How ChatGPT compares with Google’s AI plans

Google sells its AI plans through Google One, and they bundle cloud storage. Google AI Plus launched at ₹399 a month, the same as ChatGPT Go, though Google has since changed its storage and may have changed the price. Google AI Pro costs ₹1,950 a month, close to ChatGPT Plus, and includes 5 TB of storage you can share with up to five family members, Gemini in Gmail and Docs, and YouTube Premium Lite Individual. If you already pay for Google storage, that bundle changes the maths. See also Perplexity vs ChatGPT and ChatGPT vs DeepSeek.

Which ChatGPT plan to pick

Students and occasional users: Free covers a lot. Try it for a week before you pay.
Daily writing, study and work help: Go is the value pick at ₹399 a month.
You hit Go's limits, or need the newest models and advanced tools every day: Plus.
Researchers and developers running long, heavy sessions: Pro, and only if Plus limits genuinely slow you down.

Start on the lowest plan that might work. You can upgrade whenever you outgrow it, while unused months of a bigger plan are money gone.

The free ChatGPT Go year: what happens now

In 2025 OpenAI gave eligible users in India 12 months of ChatGPT Go free. Those free years are running out through 2026, and an account renews at ₹399 a month unless you cancel. Recent coverage says new Go subscribers now pay from day one; whether any free offer is still open to you shows on the upgrade screen.

If your free year is ending and you don't want to pay, cancel from your account settings in ChatGPT before the renewal date, or from Google Play or the App Store if you subscribed through the app. You keep access until the end of the period you've paid for.
