Rent a laptop or MacBook for a day, a week or a month
Your own laptop is at the service centre, a new joiner's machine hasn't arrived, or one editing project needs a Mac you don't own. Renting covers the gap without buying a machine you'll barely use. On Subspace Minutes you can rent a laptop from ₹73/day: Windows laptops from Dell, Asus and Lenovo, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models, and 144 Hz to 240 Hz monitors for a second screen. Owners list their machines, Subspace verifies them, and you pay only for the days you keep one. Rentals run in Bengaluru today. This page covers what each machine costs per day, which one fits which job, how long a rental makes sense before buying wins, and how to keep your data safe on a borrowed laptop.

Daily laptop rental rates
Basic Windows laptops with an Intel Core i3 sit at the bottom of the range and handle documents, browsing, video calls and online exams. Core i5 and i7 business machines such as the Asus Vivobook 15, Lenovo L14 and Dell Latitude cope with heavier spreadsheets, coding and dozens of browser tabs. MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models with Apple silicon cost more per day and suit editing, design and anyone who needs macOS. The category tops out at ₹590/day, where the high-refresh gaming monitors sit.
Each listing names the processor, RAM and storage, so compare those before the price. A 16 GB machine is worth a little extra if you keep Chrome, Slack and an IDE open together.

Which laptop to rent for the job
Start from what you'll actually run. Office work and online tests barely stress a laptop; video editing and large codebases do. If you're renting to try a Mac before buying one, rent the model closest to the one you'd buy so the test means something.
| Use case | What matters | Listings to look at |
|---|---|---|
| Online exam or interview | Working webcam, healthy battery, 8 GB RAM | Basic Laptop (i3, 8 GB), Dell i3 |
| Office work, internships | 16 GB RAM, full-size keyboard | Lenovo L14 (i5), Dell Latitude (i7), Vivobook 15 |
| Coding bootcamp or hackathon | 16 GB RAM, SSD, long battery life | MacBook Air M2, Dell Latitude (i7) |
| Video editing, design | Apple silicon, 16 GB RAM | MacBook Pro M2, MacBook Pro M1 Pro |
| Second screen or console gaming | High refresh rate | 144 Hz, 165 Hz or 240 Hz monitor |
How long to rent before buying makes sense
Renting wins for anything measured in days or weeks. A new MacBook Air costs well over ₹1 lakh in India; at the MacBook Air M2's daily rate you would need to rent for well over a year of actual use before you had paid that much. The maths is similar for Windows laptops: a month on a Core i3 machine costs a fraction of buying one.
Rent a laptop for a month when you need a stopgap: your own machine is being repaired, you're between jobs, or a project needs a Mac for a few weeks. Rent a laptop for a day when you need a machine for one exam, one presentation or one event. Choose your full dates in the app and the total updates for the period.

Keep your data safe on a rented laptop
A rented laptop had other users before you and will have more after. Treat it like a shared computer from the moment you collect it.
- 1At pickup, check the battery holds charge, the charger is the right wattage, every key works, and the webcam and mic show up in a test call.
- 2Use a separate browser profile or a guest window, and say no when the browser offers to save passwords.
- 3Keep work files in cloud storage or on your own USB drive instead of the desktop.
- 4Before you return it, sign out of your Apple ID or Microsoft account, email, Slack and any cloud drives.
- 5Empty the downloads folder and trash, clear browser history, and remove any Wi-Fi networks or printers you added.
