Rent a helmet, riding jacket and touring luggage for your ride

A weekend ride to Chikmagalur or a week on the road to Goa asks for more than the helmet you commute in. Armoured jackets, riding pants, boots, gloves and somewhere to strap your luggage make a long ride safer and far less tiring. On Subspace Minutes, riding gear rents from ₹40/day, and most items cost ₹60/day or less. Listings include Axor helmets, Rynox jackets, pants and knee guards, riding boots from Orazo, Clan and MotoTech, Rynox saddlebags and tank bags, rain jackets and a Bluetooth intercom. Rentals run in Bengaluru. Below: what a full kit costs per day, how to fit it, and what to check on a rented helmet.

Check the helmet before you ride

A helmet is the one item not to compromise on. Two-wheeler helmets sold in India must carry the ISI mark under BIS certification; look for the ISI label and the IS 4151 standard number on the shell or inside. Check the visor for deep scratches that blur your view at night, make sure the chin strap buckle locks firmly, and confirm the inner padding is intact.

Fit matters as much as certification. The helmet should sit snug with no pressure points, and it shouldn't roll forward when you push the back. Wear your own balaclava or skull cap under a rented helmet; it keeps the lining clean for you and the next rider.

Fitting your kit before the ride

Gear that fits badly gets taken off halfway through the ride. Try everything with the layers you plan to wear.

  1. 1Try every piece at pickup: jacket sleeves should reach your wrists with arms stretched out to the handlebars.
  2. 2Check the jacket and pants have their armour inserts at the shoulders, elbows and knees, and the back where listed.
  3. 3Walk in the boots, and shift and brake with them on your own bike if you can.
  4. 4Mount saddlebags and the tank bag at home, load them, and ride a short loop to check nothing touches the exhaust or chain.
  5. 5Pair the intercom with your phone and your pillion or riding partner before you leave the city.

Rain and luggage on longer rides

Monsoon rides through the Western Ghats need a rain plan. A riding rain jacket over your armoured jacket keeps you dry, and a jacket liner helps on cold early starts. Rynox Drystack saddlebags are listed for wet-weather touring. Pack heavy items low in the saddlebags and light ones in the tail bag, and keep documents and your phone in the tank bag where you can reach them. Filming the ride? A GoPro Riding Combo comes with helmet and handlebar mounts.

Frequently asked questions

Is a helmet on rent hygienic?

Inspect the lining at pickup and wear your own balaclava or skull cap underneath. That keeps the padding off your skin and is standard practice with rented helmets.

Is the rented helmet ISI certified?

Check for the ISI mark and IS 4151 label on the helmet at pickup. If a helmet doesn’t carry it, don’t ride with it; ask for another.

Can I get riding gear on rent for a Ladakh or Spiti trip?

Yes. Armoured jackets, pants, boots, gloves, rain jackets, liners and saddlebags are listed. Book for the full trip including travel days, and check the listing’s terms on how long you can keep the gear.

Can I rent a Bluetooth intercom?

Yes. An HD VNETPHONE V6 motorcycle intercom is listed, useful for talking to your pillion or another rider.

Is riding gear on rent available outside Bengaluru?

Not yet. Subspace Minutes rentals are live in Bengaluru, and other cities are on the roadmap. Get the app to be notified when rentals open near you.

What size should I rent?

Rent your usual apparel size for jackets and pants, and your shoe size for boots. Try everything on at pickup with the layers you plan to wear.
