Camera rental near you: DSLR and mirrorless cameras by the day

Buying a full-frame camera for one wedding, a two-week trip or a single product shoot rarely makes sense. On Subspace Minutes you can rent a DSLR or mirrorless camera by the day, starting at ₹250/day, with lenses, batteries and tripods listed alongside. Bodies from Canon, Sony and Nikon are listed by local owners and verified before they go live, and you pay only for the days you shoot. Rentals are live in Bengaluru today, with pickup or delivery arranged in the app. Below you'll find current daily rates, which camera suits which job, and how renting compares with buying.

What a camera rental costs per day

Daily rates depend on the body and what comes in the box. Entry mirrorless kits like the Canon M50 Mark II sit at the low end, full-frame bodies such as the Sony Alpha 7 III and Canon EOS R8 in the middle, and pro bodies like the Canon R5 at the top. Most listings include one battery and a charger; extra batteries, lenses and memory cards are listed separately so you only add what you need.

Rates are per day. For a longer shoot, pick your full dates in the app and check the total before you confirm, since it updates for the number of days you choose.

Which camera to rent for which job

Pick the body for the job, not the spec sheet. For weddings and events, a full-frame body handles low light far better than an APS-C kit, so the Sony Alpha 7 III or Canon EOS R8 is the safer choice. For vlogging and YouTube, the Sony ZV-E10 and Nikon Z30 are built around flip screens, good autofocus tracking and clean audio inputs. For travel, a light mirrorless kit with a zoom lens covers most situations without weighing you down. For product and food shoots, any body works; the lens and lighting matter more, so budget for a prime lens and a tripod.

How renting a camera on Subspace works

The whole flow runs in the Subspace app or on the website. You only pay a refundable security deposit if the listing asks for one, and you can see the owner’s rating before you confirm.

  1. 1Open Subspace Minutes and choose Cameras, or search for the model you want.
  2. 2Pick your dates. The total updates for the number of days you choose.
  3. 3Complete a quick KYC and pay online. The listing shows any refundable deposit up front.
  4. 4Collect the camera or get it delivered, test it in front of the owner, and start shooting.
  5. 5Return it on the last day in the same condition. Deposits are refunded once the gear is checked.

Renting vs buying a camera

Canon's own India store lists the EOS R8 body at ₹1,14,990, and the R8 with an RF 28-70mm f/2.8 lens at ₹1,99,990, before memory cards, a spare battery and a bag. If you shoot a handful of times a year, renting the same body for those days costs a fraction of that, and you can switch bodies to suit each job. Buying starts to pay off only when you shoot most weeks. A useful rule of thumb: add up the days you'd actually use the camera in a year and multiply by the daily rate. If that number is well below the purchase price, rent.

Renting also lets you try a body before you buy it. Many photographers rent the Sony Alpha 7 III or Canon EOS R8 for a weekend before committing to a system.
