CESC bill download, and paying your CESC bill on Subspace

CESC Ltd supplies electricity across its Kolkata and Howrah licence area and bills households monthly, with meters read every 28 to 32 days. Your account is identified by an 11-digit customer ID, which is different from the consumer number also printed on the bill; payments and status checks use the customer ID. You can download a copy of your bill from CESC's Customer Zone, get it by e-mail every month, or pick up a copy at a regional or cash office. This page explains each route, how to check whether a payment reached CESC, what Kolkata's domestic tariff and rebates look like, and how to pay through Bharat Connect (BBPS) on Subspace.

Customer ID, not consumer number

CESC bills carry two numbers, and mixing them up is the most common reason a payment or lookup fails. The customer ID is 11 digits and is what CESC's quick pay, Latest Payment Status and BBPS apps ask for. CESC's own payment-status form even warns: do not enter consumer no. If you can't find the customer ID, CESC's website has a Know Your Customer Id link, and the helpline can tell you.

Three ways to get a CESC bill copy

  • View / Print Bill online. On cesc.co.in, open Customer Zone → Digital Services → View / Print Bill. It takes you to Customer Login, LT Customer tab, where you sign in with your mobile number and password (first-timers choose New Account Registration). CESC's FAQ confirms you can download a copy bill here.
  • Monthly e-bill. Register your e-mail with CESC and the bill arrives in your inbox every month.
  • In person. Collect a duplicate from a CESC regional or cash office.

The CESCAPPS app, published by CESC Ltd, also lets you view, download and pay bills and get an instant receipt. For quick questions, save 74390 01912 and send “Hi” on WhatsApp.

Check whether your payment reached CESC

CESC sends a payment confirmation to your registered e-mail and mobile. If it doesn’t arrive, check before you pay again.

  1. 1On cesc.co.in, open Quick Bill Pay and go to Payment Services → LT Customer.
  2. 2Choose Latest Payment Status.
  3. 3Enter your 11-digit customer ID (not the consumer number) and click Proceed.
  4. 4If the payment isn’t shown yet, CESC asks you to wait two working days before paying again.

Kolkata’s domestic tariff and the rebates you can earn

West Bengal's regulator WBERC sets CESC's tariff. Domestic (Rate G) customers pay telescopic monthly slabs from ₹5.18 a unit for the first 25 units up to ₹9.21 above 300 units, plus a fixed charge of ₹15 per kVA per month. A monthly fuel and power purchase adjustment and electricity duty are added. No order for 2026-27 has been issued, so the 2025-26 rates continue.

Two rebates are easy to collect: 1% for paying by the due date, and another 1% for paying online by the due date. Prepaid meters get 3% off the energy charge. Under the state's Hasir Alo scheme, lifeline customers with a connected load up to 0.3 kW who use up to 25 units a month get free electricity. CESC bills warn that supply can be disconnected for non-payment after a notice, and a delayed payment surcharge applies after the due date.
