Watching Netflix free in India: what’s real and what isn’t

Netflix has no free plan in India and no cheaper ad-supported plan either. Every Indian plan is ad-free and paid monthly: Mobile at ₹149, Basic at ₹199, Standard at ₹499 and Premium at ₹649. The free page Netflix once ran for a few titles is gone. That leaves three legal ways to watch without paying Netflix directly: a free trial, which Netflix offers only to some eligible new members; a telecom recharge that bundles Netflix; and, if you share a home, splitting a bigger plan. "Netflix free subscription codes" and discount coupons from coupon sites are not among them. Here is what each real option involves.

Netflix free trials in India

Netflix's help centre says it offers "a limited free trial to eligible new members in certain countries". When you're eligible, the trial appears automatically during sign-up; you still add a payment method and are charged when it ends unless you cancel. In 2026, some new users in India reported seeing 15- or 30-day trials, but Netflix doesn't advertise them and most sign-ups don't get one. There is no code that unlocks a trial; either your sign-up shows it or it doesn't.

So the honest answer to "when is Netflix free in India" is: only if Netflix offers your new account a trial, or if your recharge includes it.

Recharges that include Netflix

A telecom bundle is the most reliable way to stop paying Netflix directly. Prepaid bundles usually include Mobile or Basic for the recharge's validity. Check whether the bundle covers the plan you need: Mobile is phone and tablet only, in SD. These were listed on 12 October 2026; bundles change often.

The cheapest Netflix plan per person

Alone, Mobile at ₹149 is the cheapest plan, but it only works on one phone or tablet in SD, with no casting. In a household, bigger plans become cheaper per person: Standard streams on two devices and Premium on four, in 4K. Netflix limits an account to one household, so split it with the people you live with.

Why free Netflix codes and sites are a trap

Netflix doesn't issue public promo codes in India, so a "Netflix free subscription code" or "Netflix discount coupon" from a coupon site, Telegram channel or YouTube video is fake. Sites and apps that stream Netflix shows for free are pirated copies; they are illegal and commonly push malware and scam ads. Lists of shared Netflix logins are usually stolen accounts. None of these is worth the risk to your phone or your data when the legal minimum is ₹149 a month.

Splitting Netflix in your household on Subspace

If you live with family or flatmates, Premium shared four ways costs about ₹162 each and gives everyone 4K. Someone still has to pay the full ₹649 and collect the rest. A Netflix group on Subspace lets each member pay their share in the app instead. For a full plan breakdown, see Netflix plans in India, and if you're weighing services, Netflix alternatives.
