Standard Chartered credit card payment: every official option

Standard Chartered gives its Indian credit card customers six official ways to pay a bill. You can use online banking, BillDesk from any bank, NEFT or IBFT to the card number, auto-debit, a cheque drop box, or cash at a branch. People searching for SCB BillDesk are usually looking for the second option, which lets you pay from another bank's account without adding a payee. This page explains each method, gives the NEFT details from the bank's own page, and covers what we know about paying SC cards through third-party apps on Bharat Connect. It also shows what a balance left unpaid can grow to, so you can see why paying on time matters more than which method you use.

Paying by NEFT from another bank

NEFT works from almost any Indian bank account and is the usual choice if you don’t want to use BillDesk. You add your card as a payee once.

  1. 1In your bank’s net banking or app, add a new payee.
  2. 2Enter your 16-digit Standard Chartered card number as the account number.
  3. 3Enter IFSC SCBL0036001 (Standard Chartered, MG Road, Mumbai branch).
  4. 4Once the payee is active, transfer the amount by NEFT.
  5. 5Keep the transaction reference and check your card account a day or two later.

BillDesk, BBPS and third-party apps

BillDesk is a payment gateway the bank links from its payment page. You enter your card details there and pay from any bank's net banking or debit card, without adding a payee. That is what "SCB BillDesk" or "Standard Chartered BillDesk" searches refer to.

Third-party apps are less clear. Since July 2024, RBI has required app-based card bill payments to go through Bharat Connect (BBPS). In an August 2024 notice, Standard Chartered said it was working to enable payments through apps under those guidelines, and that payments through such apps might not be supported in the meantime. We couldn't confirm a go-live date. Check whether Standard Chartered appears in the credit card list in the Subspace app; if it doesn't, use one of the bank's own channels above.

What an unpaid balance grows to

Whichever method you use, the deadline is what counts. A balance carried past the due date attracts interest, usually quoted as a monthly rate, and late fees. Standard Chartered's tariffs and charges page states the exact figures for your card.

The chart uses an assumed 3.5% a month, compounding, to show how a ₹50,000 balance grows if nothing is paid. It passes ₹61,000 in six months and ₹75,000 in a year, before GST and late fees. Setting up auto-debit for at least the minimum due is the simplest protection against a missed date.
