Amazon Prime vouchers and other ways to pay less for Prime

Amazon Prime vouchers are real, and they are one of the few legitimate discounts on Prime. A Prime voucher is a prepaid 13-character code that Amazon accepts only for Prime memberships, and Subspace sells them below face value: 15–19% off at the time of writing. Prime itself costs ₹299 a month, ₹599 for three months or ₹1,499 a year, while Prime Lite costs ₹799 a year. Amazon says it may run free trials from time to time, but none was showing on amazon.in/prime on 12 October 2026, and the "30-day free trial" codes on coupon sites are leftovers. Below: how vouchers work, how to redeem one, and every cheaper route ranked by monthly cost.

How Amazon Prime vouchers work

Amazon's voucher rules are specific. A Prime voucher can buy a 3-month or 12-month Prime membership or Prime Shopping Edition, nothing else on the site. It expires 12 months after activation. If the voucher is worth less than the plan, you pay the rest by card, UPI or Amazon Pay balance. Three restrictions catch people out: an existing member can extend Prime with a voucher only once per membership; members who got Prime through a telecom plan (Airtel, Vi, Jio) can't use a voucher to extend or upgrade it; and memberships bought through Google Play are excluded too. Members on Prime Lite or Shopping Edition can use a voucher to upgrade to full Prime.

  1. 1Buy an [Amazon Prime voucher](/products/amazon-prime) on Subspace and copy the 13-character voucher code (not the 16-digit Reference ID).
  2. 2On Amazon, go to Amazon Pay → Gift Cards & Vouchers → Amazon Vouchers.
  3. 3Enter the code and tap Add to your Vouchers.
  4. 4Open amazon.in/prime, pick a 3-month or 12-month plan, and choose Amazon Vouchers on the payment page.
  5. 5Pay any remaining amount with another method to finish the purchase.

Every way to pay for Prime, by cost per month

Billing period matters most: annual Prime costs less than half of monthly Prime per month. A Subspace voucher brings annual Prime down a little further. Our ₹799 Prime voucher sold for about ₹648 at the time of writing, so using it towards a ₹1,499 annual plan and paying the remaining ₹700 another way comes to roughly ₹1,348 for the year. Prime Lite is cheaper again if one device in HD is enough, and Shopping Edition drops Prime Video entirely.

Recharges that include Prime

Telecom bundles can make Prime effectively free if you were recharging anyway. Most give Prime Lite or the phone-only Prime Video Mobile Edition rather than full Prime, and Prime received through a telecom plan can't be extended with a voucher. Plans listed on 12 October 2026:

  • Jio: ₹1,029 prepaid (84 days) includes Prime Video Mobile Edition; ₹550 (84 days) and ₹2,000 (365 days) add-ons include Prime Lite; postpaid ₹749 includes Prime Lite and Netflix Basic; AirFiber plans from ₹599 and JioFiber plans from ₹999 include a year of Prime Lite.
  • Vi: ₹696 (56 days) and ₹996 (84 days) prepaid plans include Prime Lite (Maharashtra circle pricing).
  • Airtel: a ₹200 data pack includes Prime Video Mobile Edition for 28 days, per Telecomtalk in September 2026.

Operators change bundles often; confirm in your operator's app before recharging.

Why Amazon Prime coupon codes fail

Amazon doesn't publish promo codes for Prime. Free codes do exist, but they come from partner campaigns (Amazon's own help page mentions examples from apps such as PhonePe and Swiggy), and Amazon now lets each mobile number redeem only one free partner code. Coupon sites recycle those codes after they have been used or expired. A paid Prime voucher from an authorised seller is the dependable alternative, and it works for new members as well as one extension for existing ones. If you mainly want Prime for video, compare it with Netflix in Amazon Prime vs Netflix.

Frequently asked questions

How do I redeem an Amazon Prime e-voucher?

On Amazon, go to Amazon Pay → Gift Cards & Vouchers → Amazon Vouchers, enter the 13-character code and tap Add to your Vouchers. Then buy a 3-month or 12-month Prime plan at amazon.in/prime and select Amazon Vouchers as the payment method.

Is there an Amazon Prime membership promo code that works?

Not publicly. Free codes come from partner campaigns and each mobile number can redeem only one. The reliable discount is a Prime voucher bought below face value, plus annual billing.

What is the best Prime membership offer for 1 year?

The annual plan at ₹1,499, paid partly with a discounted Prime voucher. Prime Lite at ₹799 a year is cheaper if one device in HD is enough.

Does Amazon Prime have a free trial in India?

Amazon says it may offer free trials from time to time, but no trial was showing on amazon.in/prime on 12 October 2026. Check that page when signed in to see if you are eligible.

Can I use a Prime voucher if I got Prime through Jio, Airtel or Vi?

No. Amazon does not allow Prime vouchers to extend or upgrade a membership received through a telecom plan, or one bought through Google Play.

Can I pay for Prime with Amazon Pay balance?

Yes. Amazon accepts Amazon Pay balance for Prime, and an Amazon Pay gift card works wherever that balance is accepted.
